Random Little Tidbits 10-26-2015

I have decided that I shall have a tidbit corner.  Little bits and pieces of stuff that I have accumulated from here or there.  There's always some good stuff I want to remember here and there.  And I think they should be shared.

TidBit 1:  Is a post I made on FaceBook on 10-25-2015

Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
I have many times heard how this is a new commandment that Jesus gave us in the New Covenant. I would like to take a moment to address this falsity. The wording above from the NIV states that there is no commandment greater than these.
Today, most people feel that God of the Old Covenant was filled with justice, and punishment, hate, and anger. This is simply NOT true. God gave us the commandments (ALL of them, not just 10) as a guide to the redeemed on how to live.
One of those, was listed in Leviticus 19:34 "But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."
That, folks, says the exact same thing. Your neighbor today is a stranger to you. The strangers in Leviticus time were the people from neighboring countries. In Leviticus, you had family, and strangers (neighbors). And you were to love both (ALL) the same.
So the 'love your neighbor as yourself' is not new... but IS one of the two greatest commandments, and proves that God in the Old Testament is more than Law, he is LOVE!!!!

TidBit 2:   Was found in Renegade Gospel by Mike Slaughter

Martin Luther King wrote the following, chillingly prophetic words from a Birmingham jail cell:

"If today's church does not recapture the sacrificial spirit of the early church, it will lose its authenticity, forfeit the loyalty of millions and be dismissed as an irrelevant social club with no meaning for the twentieth century.  Every day I meet young people whose disappointment with the church has turned into outright disgust."
