Crazy Love ~ Francis Chan

Crazy Love by Francis Chan

I would have to start by saying this is a radical book.  What I walked away from it with the most, is that, you should down-size and donate to the church.  YES, I understand that he made  a point of saying that he was scared that we would take this away from the book, and that truly was not his intention.

There truly is much more to the book itself.  Overall it was an excellent read.  I would not go overboard here and say this is a must read, but it was not a waste of time. I am a much better person for having it in my read column.

Chan made quite a few excellent points, "When we face the Holy God, "nice" isn't what we will be concerned with, and it definitely isn't what He will be thinking about.  ANY compliments you received on earth will be gone; all that will be left for you is Truth!"  How so well put this is...  Yes it's nice to be nice to others.  But truly what is that in the end.  It made us feel good for a minute.  But in the end it does not affect our relationship with God, if someone liked how we are dressed today, or how our hair looks.... Chan's point here, we spend too much time on the frivolous inconsequential stuff...... AMEN!

"Are we in love with God, or just His stuff?" This is a HUGE question... God provides all we need, and most of what we want, if we just ask.  He gives His love to us, His grace, His mercy.  He gives, gives, gives..... WHAT do you give back?  As Chan asks, and what is so typical of people today, "what's in it for me?" mentality...  WHAT is in it for God? What have you done for HIM lately?

Chan expands on James 2:19, "says, "You believe there is one God.  Good! Even the demons believe that --- and shudder." God doesn't just want us to have good theology: He wants us to know and love him."  I have not seen this said any better!!!!!

Many more good gems in this book, one last one I will quote: "But the fact is that nothing should concern us more than our relationship with God; it's about eternity, and nothing compares with that.  God is not someone who can be tacked on to our lives."  Do you have God in His proper place in your life?  Is God first and foremost above all else?  Or does God get that last 10 minutes of the last break of your week?  What are you going to do to make this right?

Crazy Love, in retrospect....  read it... it's worth the time.
